I was a BIG fan of Nolan and thought it was typical West Ham fucktardary the way he was booed.

He should try the MLS, he's do well and earn a packet.

Re: Kevin NOLAN

Of course FM is. He is my boyhood hero. I was just applying Solds logic. Nolan will never go down as a legend but he was an asset to the team apart from that last season. Some WHOers cant seem to take off their Fat Sam tinted glasses when it comes to him.

Re: Kevin Nolan
Nolan is a classic example of a player who stayed a few seasons too long in the Premier League.

If he had retired a couple of seasons earlier he could rightly claim to have made a decent contribution to the clubs he was at.

But he faded badly at the end if his playing career and his last season in particular was woeful. His lack of pace, cowardice in the tackle and the number of times he gave up possession cheaply made him a liability.

He got picked every week only because he had a long standing relationship with the manager and for lack of any alternatives in a poor squad.

What's made it worse for Nolan is what's happened since - a revolution at the club, thrilling football, pace, creativity, competitio for places. Nolan is the poster boy for everything that was wrong with West Ham before Bilic - football that sucked all the joy out of a Saturday afternoon and no ambition.

Re: Kevin Nolan
Sold,

True but professional football is not as simple as just scoring goals from 2 yards or everyone could do it.

There is a skill/talent for being in the right place and the right time and he earned his wages in the first 2 years with us.

He hardly compares to players like Kieren Dyer and Freddie Ljungberg who were both on similar wages does he?

Well, Lampsy and Steeeevie worked out fine didn't it! Just my opinion.

Re: Kevin Nolan
Face.... Only bow Nolan had to his game is that he could pinch a goal (normally from a yard out)... otherwise you would not even notice him on the pitch if he was not pointing and moaning at refs... so you can stomach his first couple of seasons ... after that muck... typical Allardyce footballer... boring

Re: Kevin Nolan
Never understood the hatred for Nolan. Decent player, worked hard, just we got him when he was fading physically. Did his best. And did a lot to get us promoted. He scored 13 that year.! Before us, he should have been in the England squad.

His best mate Carroll? £616,000 per goal since he's been with us. Since we signed Carroll, I think he's got 12. In 4 years. And he's a "striker"? Hmm.

Cheers Kevin. May be time to hang up yer boots. But I certainly won't boo the bloke..

Re: Kevin Nolan
I'm fairly confident that if they all thought he was a cunt he wouldn't get a game. Admittedly the Morrison thing is odd, perhaps they want to target the wannabee gangsta market.

Norflundon 7:36 Fri Jan 15

But hasn't Morrison been invited to play.......I'm guessing being invited to play nobles testimonial is nothing to do with a players standing at the club

swindon hammer 7:36 Fri Jan 15
Re: Kevin Nolan
His 15 goals in the championship season were crucial in getting us up and his 10 goals in the first season back were an important part in helping us consolidate.

His last 2 years were not great but his 4 goals in 2 games against Villa & ? were crucial in helping us stay up in 2014.

Not only that but he was a vocal captain who the players all liked and he has never really slagged off the fans even when he was getting booed (even though you could tell it hurt him).

Yes he earned good money and yes there were many times Allardyce should not have picked him but all in all he was a decent signing and from what I can gather is a decent bloke.

I hope he get's a good reception at the testimonial game.

Woodford. Why do you think 1 is pretty much regarded as a legend and 1 isn't?
